It's been a longgggg time. Well, better late than never, huh? Right, I'm back on track! Today, in between of my daily office tasks, I stumbled upon my alma mater's website. I almost choked with emotion. The feeling is still strong...after all the years, I guess the 'child' in me is taking control and insist for a stroll down the memory lane.
This is my school's badge. I never bother what "Bene Orasse, Bene Studuisse" meant before. S.R.K Methodist is actually the oldest school in Krian District of Perak. This school was established in 1907. This year, SKM is going into its 100 years...whoaaaa....congrats!!! I am so proud of this school.
I was'nt very fond the 1st time I heard about my dad's plan to enroll me in this school way back in 1982. Actually, it was quite an extraordinary decision. My father did various odd 'kampung' job to support the family. We are big family, eight of us. I am the fifth. Financially, we were not that strong. Just enough to have the basic necessities, we did not even have a television set. But, my father was quite stubborn to send me to this school. At that time, SKM was a top school in Parit Buntar. English was widely accepted here, although the medium language at that time was Bahasa. My eldest brother also received his primary education here, but, that probably because he was (at the time), the only son...so, may be he deserved 'special' treatment. All my other siblings went to a nearby primary school.
I still remember how my father send me to school (and fetched me) for the first three days. We waited for the only bus company serving the Parit Buntar-Tanjung Piandang route, the so called, "Red Omnibus" with the number 5. It's a long journey, we had to get up early to catch the bus. I was enrolled into Kelas Bunga Kekwa (1 Kekwa). Then, for the rest of the days...until my last day in Standard 6...my daily transportation was a small van drove by Pak Mat. There's sweet and bitter experiences altogether, but, I really must thank my father for making the right decision...SKM really helps me (part of the process) to be what I am now. I can still remember all my teachers - Mrs. Raju (1 Kekwa), Puan Zariah (2 Jenjarum), Mrs. Leong (3 Kekwa), Encik Mazlan (4 Biru), Puan Zainab (5 Biru) and Encik Baharuddin (6 Biru). I also cannot forget my 'Ustazah' who seem inseparable from her makeup set...yet, the one who thought me how to perform ablution & pray (so efficient & unforgettable I can still remember her instruction). I am forever in debt, may Allah reward you abundantly.
